Time to act is now, urges Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Face Book

Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of Federal Council of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, has said that the political parties of Pakistan are not doing politics for people’s welfare but rather ‘playing politics’ with them. He said that instead of performing its core function of legislation, Parliament is busy in debating non-issues and enhancing the perks and privileges of its members. The tradition of sacrificing national honour for the sake of personal interest has reached its climax. He regretted that the government talks of independence of institutions but is unwilling to implement the decisions of the Supreme Court, which does not augur well for the sustainability of democracy in the country. He said that Raymond Davis, a CIA contractor, was made to flee the country in a suspect manner, which is contrary to civilized norms and principles of justice.

Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri expressed these views while addressing the senior students of Minhaj University yesterday. He said that the culture of nourishing the winning horses through foul means has strangled the real democracy and the idea has been reduced to an electoral ritual. He said that the political parties are playing the game of musical chairs and are least interested in pushing for implementation of public agenda. Pakistan, he added, is rich in resources but these are being squandered mercilessly by the ruling elite. He said that had some portion of national wealth been spent on the welfare of people, the situation would not have come to such a sorry pass. He said that our predicaments would continue to stay unless we elect capable, honest and educated leadership.

Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that passivity is not an option for people as they need to stand up and be counted if they want to get their problems resolved. He said that those whose children, wealth and future are outside of Pakistan cannot do policy making for the public good. He said that the time to act has come. We have already wasted 64 years and do not afford to continue with this behaviour any more if we have to safeguard the future of our nation.
