Minhaj College for Women arranges Teachers Training Symposium

A teacher training workshop was organized at Research Lab of Minhaj College for Women on April 7 2014. The topic of the workshop was “Academic Writing and Publishing Indigenous Research.” Dr. Ramzan, President of Pakistan Library Association, the Chief Executive Officer of FAIR Information and Research Adviser at LUMS, presided over the workshop and delivered a valuable lecture.

The workshop lasted for seven hours and was divided into three sessions. Delivering a beneficial lecture on topic of academic writing and publishing indigenous research, Dr. Ramzan elaborated on ways and means to convert a conference paper into a journal article. He threw light on the qualities of a good research paper, and gave important tips for writing a quality draft. He also taught on how to review work and make necessary changes? He further gave practical suggestions on how to set publishing agenda for oneself, and how to enhance publishing potential.

Dr Ramzan urged attendees to develop in them the literary art and writing skills. He said: “Every one of you possesses potential to write her research article. Practice makes man perfect. What if your first conference paper has not been published, so keep on trying and one day you will be an author!” He advised attendees to play their role in developing the culture of indigenous writing in Pakistan as it is rare. His discussion was followed by a question and answer session. The programme concluded on Dua. The efforts of Ms. Yasmeen Zafar (Research Coordinator) and the chief organizer of the symposium were especially appreciated at the occasion.
