UK: MWL (London) celebrates fun-day

By the Grace of Almighty Allah, Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League (London) held a Community and Cultural Funday on 6th April 2014. The programme started at 12:30 pm and continued till 5pm in Minhaj-ul-Quran Centre London. The day consisted of various activities to show that Islam allows entertainment.

Many clothing stalls (Shalwar Kameez, Abaya and scarves.), jewelry stalls, beauty products stalls, face painting and mehndi stalls were set up at the occasion. During the afternoon, games and competitions were organised for children and women, who participated zealously in them. Gifts were distributed to the winner of each game. The day turned out to be fun with everyone clearly enjoying himself immensely. Especially, the kids were seen running around with sweets, drinks, and crisps on the stall by Mrs Mahfooz Khalid, balloons, cakes and melted chocolate fruits & marshmallows from the chocolate fountain managed by Bismah Ali and Tasmia Kamal Arts & Crafts, Jumping Castle, Cake decorating and an Easter hunt for kids organised by Khadijah Sarafraz. The children were delighted to have their faces painted by Mrs Kiran Shoab and having a photo shoot done by Nazmeen Ashfaq. The women also had a variety of home-made foods available from variety of Pakistani foods like rice, Chaat, Pastas, to English foods like Sweet Corn, Chocolate Fountain and Mini Pizzas.

The Minhaj book stall and the Minhaj Dawah Project stall were set up by Mrs Amna Ajmal and Mrs Madiha Zeeshan that offered books, DVDs and CDs of lectures delivered by his eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on different topics including Mawlid, the Rights of the husband and wife, the concept of Biddah etc. The aims and objectives of Minhaj-ul-Quran International were discussed by Mrs Ruksana Sarfaraz (General Secretary Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League London) and sisters were happy to give their contact details for future event. Local Councillor Ellie Robinson was present at the occasion and was welcomed to a colourful gathering by Mrs Nusrat Mehmood (President Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League London) and Mrs Shagufta Nasreen. She took away some of Shaykh ul Islam’s books and met youth sisters.
