PAT asks UN to play role in stopping genocide of Muslims in Burma

PAT President Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi has strongly condemned the genocide of Muslim minority community in Burma. He asked the UN, international human rights organizations, OIC and international media to play their role to stop the human rights violations at the mass scale and massacring of the Muslims in Burma. He said that the Muslims including women and children are being killed mercilessly and silence of the UN, OIC, international human rights organizations and media has a big question mark. He said that every law, religion, and system abhors and condemns killing of humans, adding that at a time when the blood of Muslims is being shed like water, those championing human rights are keeping a studied silence.

PAT President Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi expressed these views while addressing hurriedly called meeting of Central Working Council at the central secretariat today. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, Hanif Mustafavi, Farah Naz, Mazhar Alvi, Sohail Raza, Basharat Jaspal, and Fayyaz Warriach also attended the meeting.

Dr Raheeq Abbasi demanded that the heads of the Muslim governments and influential countries should immediately convey their strong condemnation and disapproval of what is being done to the Muslims to the Burmese authorities, adding that the matter should not be confined to expression of condemnation; rather they should play their role to stop the genocide of the Muslims. He said that the rulers of Burma should be given a deadline to stop atrocities on the Muslims and in case they fail to put an end to their extermination, all Muslim countries should break their diplomatic relations with Burma.

The PAT President said that the silence of the UN on the heart-rending incidents of genocide of Muslims in Burma is the greatest threat to the world peace. He said that the world cannot be made a hub of peace without doing away with double standards. He said that the UN should immediately take emergency steps to stop oppression against the Muslims and deploy peacekeeping forces in Burma. He said that every civilized person is grieved over what is going on in Burma, adding that the sentiments of the Muslims the world over have been hurt to an irreparable extent. He said that the Pakistani rulers are also keeping mum over the precarious situation in Burma. He asked the government of Pakistan to play its role in stopping the genocide of the Muslim minority community in Burma. He said that Pakistan should immediately convene a meeting of OIC and plan a collective course of action.

Dr Abbasi said that the way and at scale atrocities are being committed on the helpless Muslims in Burma is a slap on the face of the civilized world. He said that law of jungle prevails in Burma and there is no one to reign in the hands of oppressors.
