Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, has condemned the government’s decision of raiding the power tariff by 12% and increase of Rs. 5 in LPG prices, saying that the decision would further compound people’s problems.
PAT President said that it was responsibility of Parliament to watch public interest. He said that the recurring practice of increasing power tariff had made life difficult for the poorest of the poor. He said that the national economy was already suffering due to power outages and no plan was in place to find an immediate solution to the pressing problems. Instead of making power available, the government has found a convenient way to increase tariff every now and then, he concluded.
