Dr. Ghazala Qadri Highlights Spiritual Growth and Purpose at Launch of Al-Baseerah Initiative

Al Baseerah Session Dr Ghazala Qadri Mustafavi Sisters

Dr. Ghazala Qadri, President MWL International, addressed the first session of Al-Baseerah and spoke to students about self-awareness, spiritual growth, and the importance of having clarity in one’s purpose. She focused on how young women today need to balance their academic goals with personal and spiritual development, and how tarbiyah plays a key role in building strong character and direction in life.

The session was part of the launch of Al-Baseerah, an initiative by Mustafavi Sisters, the student forum of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League. More than 300 participants joined from different parts of Pakistan, while members of the Women League were also present at the Central Secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran in Lahore.

The session was hosted by Secretary General Mustafavi Sisters Sr. Rabia Shafaq. Al-Baseerah is planned as a series that will include camps, training sessions, and regular tarbiyah gatherings for students and educators.

In her lecture titled The Mustafavi Heart, Dr. Ghazala Qadri focused on developing a sincere inner state while carrying out the responsibility of serving Deen.

She began by explaining the shift from simply completing tasks to understanding purpose. Khidmah (service of Deen) should not be mechanical; it must be carried out with sincerity, purity, and a sense of responsibility. It is not just an action, but an amanah that requires presence of heart and awareness.

A central concept discussed was Hazouri, described as a state of divine awareness. It is the realization that every action, every moment, is seen by Allah Almighty. Keeping this awareness alive in both heart and mind ensures that actions are performed with consciousness and accountability. A believer must constantly remember that they are answerable to Allah for all their actions.

Dr. Ghazala outlined the foundations of true responsibility, which include having a clear identity, performing actions with sincerity and Hazouri, and engaging in Dawah. She stressed that if one’s inner state is not aligned before Allah, then outward responsibilities cannot be fulfilled properly.

She spoke about the importance of having an awakened heart—a heart that seeks closeness (Qurb) to Allah and performs every action with the intention of gaining His pleasure. In this context, Niyyah (intention) was described as the core of Khidmah. She explained that Niyyah is the seed, and Hazouri is the atmosphere. Without the right intention, actions lose their value.

The lecture also highlighted that deeds are judged based on intentions. The reality and sincerity of one’s Niyyah determine the worth of actions, which is why intention must be continuously renewed and purified.

Dr. Ghazala also addressed spiritual pitfalls such as Riyyah (showing off) and actions done for the sake of people. She explained that these weaken sincerity and act as barriers to true Khidmah. Spiritual diseases, she noted, gradually weaken one’s intention and must be addressed.

A key method for self-improvement shared in the lecture was Muhasbah (self-accountability). She encouraged constant reflection and questioning of one’s actions to achieve purification.

She further spoke about responsibility towards others (Amanah), reminding that individuals are accountable for those under their care—students, younger siblings, and others—and will be questioned about them.

Another important point was transforming daily life into Ibadah. When actions are performed with Hazouri, every moment becomes an act of worship. This is strengthened by the belief that Allah is always present and aware of all actions.

Dr. Ghazala emphasized that Allah looks at the sincerity (Ikhlaas) and truthfulness of intentions. She warned against spiritual dangers such as hardness of heart, lackof sincerity, and carelessness in fulfilling responsibilities.

She concluded by explaining the difference between routine and true Emaan. Actions performed without pure intention and presence of heart become routine, and a person is unable to experience the reality of faith in such a state.

The session provided clear guidance on aligning actions with sincerity and maintaining awareness of purpose, offering participants a strong foundation for their personal and spiritual development.
