Radio Show on Glasgow’s Renowned Asian radio station – AwazFM

During the blessed month of Ramadhan the MYL UK – Sisters of Glasgow were invited to do a Radio Show on Glasgow’s Renowned Asian radio station – AwazFM.

The show was hosted by Sister Naeema and representing the MYL UK – Sisters was Ambreen Mehmood, Public Relations Executive; Humma Majid, Public Relations Officer; and Sweba Majid, General Secretary.

Over the month of Ramadhan, Sister Ambreen Mehmood delivered a discussion on the virtues of Ramadhan and focussed on the spiritual and materialistic benefits of fasting. She also covered the topic of Laila-tul-Qadr, the Night of Power, and explained the blessings of this night. Throughout her discussion she emphasised the importance of seeking forgiveness during this Blessed Month and encouraged the listeners to make the most of the blessings of Ramadhan.

Sister Sweba Majid delivered her discussion on the topic of Tawhid, based on Shaykh-ul-Islam’s discourses on the topic. She explained how Tawhid is not just a term which means the Oneness of God, but that it is a whole concept that requires in depth discussion to completely understand it. She explained the different types of Tawhid that there are and then explained that every one of these has a metaphorical and a real aspect – the former being for mankind and the latter for the Lord alone. She explained that this was the case for every type of Tawhid except Tawhid fil Ibadah – Unity in Worship, which is the exclusive right of Allah SWT. She also covered when a person falls out of the boundaries of Iman and into the ambit of Kuffar. The topic ended on the extreme reverence of the Holy Prophet (SAW) with the message of Minhaj-ul-Quran and that the Deen of Islam is the personality of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and without the Holy Prophet (SAW) there is no Iman.

Throughout the month Sister Humma Majid was present to recite Naats, along with two local sisters – Maheen and Zoha. Sister Ambreen Mehmood also introduced the listeners to Minhaj Welfare Foundation and passed on their details.

The were also a few competitions within which lectures of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri were given away; Muhammad Milad Raza Qadri’s CDs; and free driving lessons that had been sponsored by Glasgow School of Motoring, the local driving school.

The Radio Programme was a great success and many people phoned in to express their appreciation of the show and praised the whole team for their efforts.
