Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri is waging a struggle for restoration of rights of the suppressed sections of society. The government’s ineffective and pro-elite policies have affected all segments of society adversely. The farmers among are the worst-hit as they face a twin challenge of reduce water flows and hike in the prices of input products. The neglect of agricultural sector by the government has brought this all-important pillar of national economy to a brink of destruction. It is important that the farming community wakes up to challenge and makes an effort to get their rights.
PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur expressed these views while
talking to Chaudhry Anwar, Chairman of Pakistan Kisan Ittehad the other day. He
said that agriculture contributed handsomely to national Gross Domestic Product
and employed huge labour force. He said that the agricultural sector was being
purposively destroyed to
the detriment of the millions of families that were associated with it.
Speaking at the occasion, Chaudhry Anwer said that one should not expect any good from the industrialist rulers. He said that destruction of agriculture had worsened the situation of the farming community leading many of them to commit suicide. He said that the farmers stood by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and supported his agenda of green revolution in the country. He said that they participated in the PAT demonstrations on May 11 and registered their anger against the government’s policies.
