Peace curriculum a great service of humanity by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri: Political leaders

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has rendered a great service to the humanity by launching anti-terrorism, peace curriculum. Employment of pen is equally important to uproot terrorism, extremism and radicalism in addition to the use of hard power. Peace curriculum will help and boost the efforts in saving the youth and students from misguided path of terrorism and evil influence of radical elements. Those who used the youth for political objectives committed a national crime by ignoring their intellectual and ideological development.

These views were expressed by key political leaders in a discussion held at the central secretariat after the launch of anti-terrorism, peace curriculum in the UK on June 23. Former Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Sardar Aseff Ahmad Ali, former Governor Punjab Ghulam Mustafa Khar, PAT President Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, and PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur took part in the discussion.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Mustafa Khar said that cowardice and lack of wisdom on the part of political leadership, which is deprived of political vision, pushed the country into abyss of extremism. He said that designing of peace curriculum was the responsibility of the government under the National Action Plan. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri deserves tributes, for he accomplished on his own and by himself what should have primarily been the responsibility of the government. He said that it is unfortunate that elimination of terrorism and securing the future of coming generations is not part of the government’s priorities.

Former Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Sardar Aseff Ahmad Ali said that the biggest threat facing Pakistan today emanates from extremism, terrorism and radicalism. He said that it is regrettable that the rulers are busy in political gimmicks instead of having a clear roadmap on how to deal with this mischief. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri rejected the false ideologies of terrorists by issuing argumentative Fatwa against terrorism, adding that peace curriculum launched by him will become the basis of a civil movement against menace of terrorism, extremism and radicalism and help the youth stay away from the path of militancy and conservatism.

Taking part in the discussion, Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi said that the guns of Pakistan military and the pen of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri will eliminate terrorism and extremism from Pakistan. He said that ‘Khawariji mischief of terrorism’ was fought at the emotional level but there was a need to have guidance from the Holy Quran and derive arguments from the Quran and Sunna to crush this mischief once and for all. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has gathered these arguments from the Islamic sources of law despite his serious ailment and presented them before the nation.

Presenting his views on the peace curriculum, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the government is on the agenda of thwarting the National Action Plan against terrorism because what the rulers are aiming at is completion of their five-year tenure. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has furnished intellectual guidance to the youth and students by designing anti-terrorism, peace curriculum in inhospitable conditions.
